Glad you're busy and working with women that actually do, not just blather. Sorry, but the New York Times lies and distorts almost every commonsense idea or action.

Another ramble.. MOTHER NATURE is the big boss.. These humans who think they can ignore or outsmart her are WRONG.. Yes.. bringing and storing water near the southern California coast was and still is a smart idea, in an effort to live with the BOSS.. Let's see if that happens finally...

There's some truth to both sides in the debate over the fires. Humans don't control the winds, but we do have some influence over the supply of water, and it sounds like there was myopia that led to dry reservoirs. Not all homes and other structures could have been saved but with better decision making, the loss could have been lessened. I'm not from California and not familiar with their building code but it seems at first glance that there's a need for construction materials and landscaping that could better withstand fires. I'm in Florida and the building code is pretty tough when it comes to hurricanes. I'm of the view that it needs to get tougher for homes built near the shore. Ordered the Henry book!

On the basis of the (very few) Muslims I've personally known in the US, most just want to practice in their own way; they no more want to live under shari'a than most American Jews want to live under halakha (as set down by, say, the Satmars). I don't mind who immigrates here - legally - but I expect and demand that *all* immigrants obey our laws.

It IS climate change/global warming (100 MPH winds, the drought) AND political incompetents and corruption AND arson AND incomprehensible budget cuts to the fire dept and forest service & fire scanning technology, AND refusal to build desalination plants and pipes; AND using the 4B which was marked to build reservoirs on immigrants instead; AND very bad policies regarding forest management,

Climate change is real - the oceans are warming - natural disasters are increasing and are fiercer with dire consequences. Overpopulation is real and for muslims it is a tactic of conquest. Beware of people who say it is yes or no, unconnected to the whole of nature and the nature of humans. The truth of what is happening is complex and being deliberately obscured. Just as CA failed to prepare for the Santa Anna fires, humans in general deny and fail to mitigate humans' detrimental influences on the planet and we will all suffer the consequences.
