I have traveled extensively in Latin, Central and South America. The one thing all of the countries I have lived in have in common is a hatred of the Spanish Conquistadores because when they arrived they brought slavery, raped the women, and pillaged these countries of their cultures, and their natural resources, especially gold and silver...and conquered and tortured indigenous people. My question...and this is to a serious historian...How did Hispanic people become a protected minority in the United States while Jews and Italians (Columbus ....financed by Portugal and Spain) became despised as colonizers?

Those indigenous cultures were themselves guilty of slavery, rape and mass murder.

You're absolutely right. When Columbus was a hero, none of this. Now that we've decided Columbus was really a villain, and Columbus day has been turned into Indigenous People's day, they figure out that Columbus was Jewish too.

If he was Jewish, I frankly am proud to be associated with Christopher Columbus and the discovery of the New World.
