In particular, for military defense it is necessary to have a central and unified command, and a national, patriotic feeling. Representative democracy might have been wise, but at the time was not conceived.
The biggest problem with having a king, in the event, was not its similarity to other nations; but rather (a) that the dynasty had not the political cunning to keep the country unified, and (b) even then would not have had the power to resist conquest by mightier powers.
Had I a loved one...family, even friend ...in those underground extermination camps.....on FB, people with Arab or Muslim names place Ha HA emojis next to that ....I'd be like those in the plaza outside the TA museum demanding the gov't make a deal with the devil....other than this I agree with what you write.
